To create a new activity, select Activities & Scheduling under “Activity Builder” in the navigation menu.
The page you land on is the activity scheduler and will be empty as you do not yet have activities.
1: Creating Your First Activity
Click "Create the first activity" to open the Activity Builder.
Alternatively, click the New Activity drop-down menu on the right side, and select Activity from the following options:
- Activity: An activity that participants must complete on their computer.

Mobile: Mobile activities can be completed by participants on the Digital Diaries mobile app or on their computer. If you want participants to use the mobile app, be sure to let them know in the instructions for the activity.

- Concept Canvas: Concept Canvas allows participants to interact dynamically with an image.
- Discussion: A threaded group discussion where participants converse with eachother about a question or topic you provide. Only people who are in the same segment can participate in group discussion with eachother.
2: Adjusting the Activity Settings
The Name of the activity will be seen by the participants, so it should be descriptive. If you have segments in multiple languages, you can translate the activity name.
Identify if the activity will be answered only once or multiple times. Set Kind to One Time Activity or Recurring Activity as appropriate.

Change the activity type to Mobile if you want your participants to be able to complete the activity on either their mobile devices or their desktop devices.
Note: For mobile activities, there is a 150 character limit for answer options with single choice and multiple choice collectors.

Identify the Sharing level.
To prevent other participants from seeing other participants’responses, set to Private.
To allow participants to see other participants’ responses after sharing their own response, set to Uninfluenced .
To allow participants to see other participants' responses before sharing their own response, set to Influenced.
Set the "Overdue Notice after" to 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 1 week, 1 month, Never, or Custom. After an activity has been available to a participant and not submitted for the selected time period, an overdue notification will be sent. It will also appear overdue in a participant's To-Do list. If Never is selected, no overdue notifications will be sent for the activity. If Custom is selected, participants receive an overdue notice, based on participant time zone, on the date and time that you choose.
3: Adding the Activity Content
To add a Stimuli or a Collector to the activity, drag and drop it across the canvas. To learn more about the various types of stimuli and collectors, see Activity Builder
Click Click here to add instructional text for this prompt to explain to the participant what information they need to provide.
Add other stimuli/collectors to the activity by dragging and dropping above or below already added stimuli/collectors.
Provide instructions by clicking Click here to add instructional text for this prompt.
Repeat until you are satisfied.
4: Saving & Previewing your activity
After the collectors and stimuli are added, you can Preview your activity.
In the preview window, check for errors.
If everything looks good, Save & Close your activity.
